London Polymer Clay Group Demonstration

London Polymer Clay Group Demonstration

I will be giving a demonstration at the next London Polymer Clay Group meeting which is on Sunday 29th January on how I make this background less star flower cane and then form them into cupped flower beads. I must credit Zuleykha for showing me how to make the flower beads but the cane is my own, from a fabric pattern (to match a top, which I might even wear to the meeting if I remember) and I will demonstrate how I make a small flower cane with no background, without playdough! Here are some of my creations using this technique, my own...

Hearts

Hearts

Here’s some images of some custom hearts I made before Christmas. They are hand size, so you can hold them in your hand. I made them from hearts shaped out of scrap clay, covered with cane slices.and a couple of close ups of what I think are my favourites, although that changes every time I looked at them.

From Polymer To Art – Purple – I’m in it!

Hurray I have just received my copy of From Polymer To Art – Purple! I’m so excited because have an article in it! You can see me in the top left hand corner of this ‘contents’ picture. I was asked to write an article about my curing experiments. If you have been following my blog for a while you will probably have read all about my tests to try and cure Kato clay so that thin bangles wouldn’t break. I also did some tests with Fimo soft to see how the curing time/temp effected the strength of Fimo Soft –...

Christmas owls

Christmas owls

I suddenly had a seasonal moment last night and made some Christmas hats for a couple of new owlsand a sleeping cat! They came along with me today to Bristol’s Shortest Art Trail (in 2 houses 2 doors apart). We all had a jolly time drinking mulled wine and talking to lovely local Fishponds people. One of the other artists suggested I should put hanging loops on them so they can be ornaments – so obvious, why didn’t I think of that! Watch this space for Christmas owl tree ornaments! All these owls were made from scraps from my...

Some more new jewellery

Some more new jewellery

I have been very busy making things this week. Here’s a couple of my newest pendants. I am trying to always add a little extension chain and dangle, it means the length of the necklace is adjustable to some degree and the clasp is more likely to stay at the back.  I wrote a blog post a while ago about keeping necklaces in place – you can find it here
