Changing Seasons Polymer Clay Beaded Necklace Tutorial in Beads and Beyond October 2014

Changing Seasons Polymer Clay Beaded Necklace Tutorial in Beads and Beyond October 2014

I am thrilled to have my ‘Changing Seasons’ polymer clay beaded necklace tutorial in the October 2014 edition  Beads and Beyond magazine which is available in the shops or online now. It’s a fantastic issue of the magazine packed full of inspirational  autumn jewellery projects using a wide range of techniques. The beads are made from one cane which has been made using a three colour Skinner blend – I have a detailed tutorial for this available on my new Tutorial page. I had fun working with the pantone autumn colours...

New Tutorial Page and Pointy Stripe Tutorial Now on Website

New Tutorial Page and Pointy Stripe Tutorial Now on Website

Extruded stripy beads tutorial I’ve made a new tutorial page on my website to collect together my tutorials. There’s links to the online ones and a list of the ones printed in magazines too. I’ve finally added the first tutorial I ever wrote (back in 2010!) to my website! When I wrote it I couldn’t figure out how to share it on my web page so I had it available on Scribd  but now you will find it below.  You do need old crumbly clay to make this work – if you don’t have any you could leach some...

I’m still enjoying blue and white kaleidoscope canes…

I’m still enjoying blue and white kaleidoscope canes…

I do really rather like blue and white it seems. I couldn’t resist another blue and white kaleidoscope cane pendant. This one is a little smaller than the last one I showed you. There are matching earrings too but I haven’t assembled them yet, I much prefer the polymer bit of jewellery making! They’ll be available for sale at my next exhibition which isn’t until November at the Totterdown Arts Trail so I’ve got plenty of time to finish those earrings make some more canes too. I might even make some in different...

Blue and White Kaleidoscope Pendant

Blue and White Kaleidoscope Pendant

Here is my one of latest pieces of polymer clay  jewellery – a Kaleidoscope tile pendant in blue and white. I love it and have been wearing it a lot (I wear a lot of blue – you might have noticed from my jewellery I like blue). I made a couple of similar ones, I don’t like to make anything exactly the same and they have all been snapped up so I must make another cane in the same style soon.   I’ve been busy organising an exciting polymer clay workshop which will take place in Bristol in March 2015, it’s a 3...

Curing experiments – Fimo results

Curing experiments – Fimo results

A long time ago I did a lot of experiments with the curing of Kato polyclay and shared the results with you in a series of blog posts.  It all started with trying to make these bangles and having issues with their durability, I am still wearing them now 3 years later so the effort was worth it. I also did some testing on Fimo and the results of these experiments were published in the From Polymer to Art purple magazine. I have just realised I never shared the results with you so here they are below. I won’t share all the Kato results...

What I’ve been up to…

What I’ve been up to…

Goodness me it’s been a while since I blogged! I’ve had a bad back which has meant I haven’t really done very much of late but it’s a lot better and I’m back in action at last! There’s a couple of exciting things I should tell you about since I last blogged: Two of my polymer clay beads were published in the Lark Book – 1000 Beads. This is the first time my work has been published in a book and I was thrilled! It’s a fabulous book full of gorgeous beads made out of many different materials but...

Craft, Stitch and Hobby International

Craft, Stitch and Hobby International

I had a very busy few days representing Kato Polyclay at the Craft Stitch and Hobby International Trade Show at the NEC in Birmingham last week. It is such an honour to be able to share the magic of polymer clay with so many people in such a short time. This year I delivered the message very effectively with a Product Presentation everyday – where I shared a slide show sharing some of my tips about using Kato Polyclay and then did a quick demo of a kaleidoscope cane. I also gave a 40 minute millifiori masterclass each day. There were 20...

My latest creations – workshop with Jana Lehmann

My latest creations – workshop with Jana Lehmann

I was lucky enough to attend 2 workshops in London with Jana Lehmann last weekend. They were fabulous workshops – very well prepared. Jana is a great teacher and her work is beautifully finished! I learnt a lot of new skills and made some things I’m really pleased with.         Can’t wait to try some more but today I am packing ready to go and work at the Craft, Stitch and Hobby International trade show at the NEC in Birmingham over the next few days. I will demonstrating polymer clay techniques with Kato...

Happy 2014! What I’ve been up to so far…

Happy 2014! What I’ve been up to so far…

Happy 2014! I hope you are having a great year so far! I have spent some time developing some of the ideas that have been floating round my head and then my sketch book for the last few months. I haven’t really got anything to show just yet but hopefully I will have some new interesting pieces of polymer jewellery soon. I have also started work on my online shop – at last! It’s not quite there yet but I hope to open it soon. I was sort of waiting to open it before I wrote this blog post but I seem to have quite a few things...
