Polymania UK 2020
Polymania UK 2020 was held as a virtual event due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The teacher taught using live stream video from their homes. We hope to hold a retreat at the Mercure hotel on October 30th-1st November for the participants.
Bettina Welker – Bayonet Clasp Pendant
Learn to make an entirely polymer clay bayonet clasp. This then becomes the focal point as part of a pendant.
Donna Kato – Rings, rings, rings!
A One Day Class In Which We Dabble in Finger Baubles.
In this class, we will create two basic ring types: The Block (With Rising Splats) and The Box in which small, special items may be stashed.
You will know how to create some variations on the basic themes.
Sarah Shriver – Loop-de-Loop
Create this fun trompe l’oeil “loop” pattern with just 2 sets of colorful blends!
The class will cover:
• Mixing a color palette that works
• Detailed instructions on how to construct the cane
• The use of highlights and shadows to create the illusion of depth
• Tips and techniques for building and reducing your cane
• Ideas about creating a successful design
• Ideas for building patterns and pattern variations
Gain more control of your caning skills and have fun doing it!
A huge thank you to the event sponsors
The price for this event is £355 per person. Included in the price are 3 full-day workshops, one with Bettina Welker, one with Donna Kato and one with Sarah Shriver. There will be a range of refreshments available throughout each day and a hot and cold 3-course buffet lunch which will be served in the hotel restaurant so we don’t get crumbs on our clay!
The Mercure Holland House Hotel and Spa is a lovely hotel not far from the center of Bristol. It is a 10 minute walk from the Bristol Temple Meads railway station and the airport bus stops just around the corner on Redcliffe Way. Registration will be between 9am and 9:30am on Friday 20th March. Teaching will finish at about 6pm each day, please be aware if you chose to leave before this time on Sunday 22nd March you may miss some of the workshop. There will be a social on Thursday evening for anyone who is arriving then. We will have a swap on Friday evening and on Saturday night there will be a group meal at Za Za Bazaar, an all you can eat buffet with different food from around the world.
