Cara Jane Autumn Workshops 2017
14th and 15th October 2017—9:30am—5:30pm
Mercure Holland House Hotel & Spa—Bristol, UK
Two separate one day workshops or book both together for a discounted rate.
Wonderful Wood—£85 per person – Saturday 14th October 2017
In this class you will learn how to make different coloured faux wood canes -mahogany, oak and maple. From these starting canes we will explore two different techniques: using the ‘wood’ to make a 3D block cane and cutting patterns from thin strips of the ‘wood’. Students will be given some templates and lots of tips to assemble several different ‘marquetry’ patterns. Finally students will use the patterns as a veneer to make unusual ‘wooden’ jewellery or a small decorated box.
Kimono Curl Pendant—£85 per person – Sunday 15th October 2017
This workshop explores patterns and canework. We will create two different geometric patterned canes using a range of different skills. The slices of the cane will be joined together to create a pendant that curls over on itself. We will then add a neat backing and a polymer bail and sand and buff the front for a high quality finish.
Here is Cara’s tile for the Fimo 50 World Project to celebration the 50th year of Fimo made using the canes from this project.
